Deal Room

Buying or selling a portfolio? Sweep both books first.

A Deal Room is a consent-based space where the two sides of a portfolio deal check their books against each other — and against the ShieldVIN clearinghouse — before money moves. If both parties claim the same VIN or HIN, both see it. Nobody browses anybody's book.

A check protects one loan. A Deal Room protects a portfolio deal. Every loan-sale checklist reviews credit files, servicing records, and the data tape — and almost none of them verifies that the collateral behind the tape exists once and is pledged once. The Deal Room closes that gap with a Portfolio Sweep: every lien on both sides is checked against the other party's book and against the clearinghouse network.

How a Deal Room works

StepWhat happensWho does it
1 · OpenUpload your lien list and invite your counterparty with one link. They don't need to be a ShieldVIN member — a seller can upload their liens, pay a flat per-lien rate, and be done. The member side (buyer or seller)
2 · SweepEvery lien on both sides is checked against the other party's book and the clearinghouse. Your monitored liens sweep free; you pay only for liens outside your book.ShieldVIN
3 · Reveal on matchIf both parties claim the same vehicle, both see it. Outside lienholders of record are alerted too. Both sides

What each party sees — and what they never see

The disclosure rule is two sentences: you may learn about your own assets; you may not learn about someone else's. On a match, you get full detail on the assets you claim — who else claims them and how to open a contact channel. The other side's exposure reaches you as a count, never as their book. There is no bulk visibility, no browsing, and no directory.

No customer PII crosses the wire at any point — the network exchanges identifier-level lien-status signals only, inside a room both parties chose to enter. That architecture is what lets competing lenders check collateral against each other without exposing their customers or their books.

Where this fits in a portfolio purchase

Run the Sweep after the tape is agreed and before funds move — alongside your credit-file sampling and servicing review, not instead of them. A clean Sweep tells you the identifiers on the tape aren't already pledged elsewhere in the network; a match tells you exactly which assets to resolve before closing. Buyers of whole pools and participations use the same room the same way.

Common questions

Does my counterparty see my book?

No. Each side sees full detail only on assets it already claims. The other side's exposure is a count. Nothing is browsable.

Does the other side need a ShieldVIN account?

No. You invite them with one link; they upload their lien list as a guest and pay a flat per-lien rate.

What does a Deal Room cost?

Members' monitored liens sweep free — you pay only for liens outside your monitored book, and a non-member counterparty pays a flat per-lien rate. Current rates live on the pricing page.

What gets checked in a Sweep?

Both books against each other, and every identifier against the clearinghouse network — including lienholders of record outside the deal, who are alerted when their asset shows up in a conflict.
